Point of Flooring Nail

Point of Nail

The point of a nail is the sharp tip at its base. Its purpose is to separate the substrate material, allowing room for the shank to enter the substrate. All Halex flooring nails have an elongated “diamond” point for extra sharpness and penetrating power. Although the point is the smallest part of the nail, it has a great impact total performance. For example in concrete, the point will contribute up to 50% of the strength of the nail. In wood products, the point will contribute 20% of the strength of the nail. It is important to note that 20% to 50% of the strength of a nail is lost if its point is driven through the back of the material. (see additional comments under "Length of Nail" section.)
