Carpet Tack Strips: Five Foot Carpet Tack Strip

Halex 5 foot carpet tack strip is made from 5 ply Baltic Birch plywood, which is known for its strength and hardness. It has been the standard in Europe for over 30 years and is ideal because its length reduces the number of pieces needed per installation, and thus the need to cut pieces is also greatly reduced. Five foot carpet tackstrip can be ordered in Regular or Extra Wide widths and is packaged in cartons of 400 linear feet, the same number of feet found in a carton of four foot carpet tack strip.

Economical
For many years, carpet tack strip in the U.S. has been manufactured mainly from 3 ply Douglas Fir plywood in 4 foot lengths. Recently, European plywood manufacturers have been offering 5 ply Birch plywood at competitive prices. While 5 ply Birch plywood is available in 4 foot lengths, it is more widely available and priced more attractively in 5 foot carpet tack strip. Halex has designed and built custom sawing and nailing equipment in order to bring this product to the U.S. market at competitive pricing.

Strong
Laboratory tests show that carpet tack strip constructed from Birch plywood has 20% more pin strength than that constructed of Douglas Fir plywood. This means pins can take a 20% stronger power stretch without pulling through the plywood.

When 3 ply plywood has a knot or void in one ply, it only has two good plies left. Often the carpet tack strip will break at the knot and nails or pins will pull through while stretching. When 5 ply plywood has a knot or void in one ply, it still has four good plies, meaning it won‘t break and pins will not pull through.

Convenient Packaging
5 foot carpet tack strip is packaged 400 feet (80 pieces) per carton. A carton of 5 foot carpet tack strip contains the same footage as a carton of 4 foot carpet tack strip. There is no need to change quotations or specifications.
