Halex carpet tack strips come in both 4 and 5 foot lengths. Four foot carpet tack strips is the traditional length in the USA because the American standard plywood panel is 4 x 8 feet in size. Halex, however, imports some of its plywood from Russia, where the 5 x 5 feet panel is a common size for plywood, which has allowed Halex to provide 5 foot carpet tack strips as well as the traditional 4 foot carpet tack strips. Five (5) foot carpet tack strip requires fewer lengths per installation, requires less cutting time, and is often more economical than four (4) foot carpet tack strips.
